BANGALORE: Indira Nagar Basketball Club defeated Settys, Mangalore 34-24 to enter the girls' semifinal league in the State youth basketball championship here on Tuesday. Mounts Club beat Sports School, Vidyanagar 29-14 and made it to the quarterfinals. In the boys' section, Vivek Nagar BC and NAL Sports Club entered the quarterfinals. The results: Boys: Vivek Nagar BC 41 bt SAI 35; Pinakini, Gauribidanur 36 bt IBBC 16; NAL SC 36 bt Merchants 36-34; Devanaga SU 30 bt YMMA 11. Girls: Greens, Davangere 22 bt VBC 12; Mounts Club 29 bt Sports School, Vidyanagar 14; INBC 34 bt Settys 24; Vivek Nagar BC 37 bt Rovers, Dharwad 6; Pinakini 28 bt Bangalore Sporting 23.
Raheel scores a brace
St. Joseph's Indian High School `A' defeated Baldwin BHS 2-0 in the Allan Macbride memorial inter-school hockey tournament here on Tuesday. Md. Raheel scored both the goals. In the girls' section, St. Francis Xavier HS `A' drew 1-1 with St. Euphrasias HS `B'. In another tie, St. Francis Xavier HS defeated Frank Anthony PS 1-0.
Title for Youth Services
Youth Services with 31 points won the overall title in the State senior and junior boxing championship held here on July 22 and 23. Sports Authority of Karnataka finished second with 27 points. R.G. Manjunath of Surana College was adjudged the best boxer in the senior section while Ravi Kiran of SAK won that title in the junior category.
