TIRUPATI: Netizens of Tirupati can now have access to the millions of digitised works across the globe, literally at a click of the mouse. TTD's Sri Venkateswara Digital Library (SVDL), a member of the US-based Universal Digital Library (UDL), now offers access to all the available books in digital form to the surfers. Founder-chief of UDL and a professor at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) Raj Reddy formally inaugurated the access link at SVDL's computer centre in SVETA complex here on Tuesday.
Prof. Reddy said that the SVDL would digitise the 75,000 books of Tiruvadudurai library (Kumbakonam), 50,000 books of Mylapore Sanskrit College (Chennai), Dharmasthala Devasthanam library and Saraswati Mahal (Tanjavur) along with 5,000 ancient books of Machilipatnam library.
UDL is bringing out a universal dictionary, a lexicon of words in all languages, with English translations. SVDL director Bhuman Subramanyam Reddy and TTD's Public Relations Officer K. Ramapulla Reddy were also present.
