HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday directed the Government to take steps to conduct the post-mortem on the bodies CPI (Maoist) leader Madhav and others at Guntur which will be videographed. The Bench passed these interim orders in response to a writ petition filed by Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) represented by Subhash Chandrabose. The petitioner complained that they were no proper post-mortem facilities at Markapur and alleged that the police were trying to hush up fact that it was a `cold-blooded murder'. The Bench said that the post-mortem report should be properly counter-signed and put in a sealed cover signed by a local judicial officer. The Government would take steps to send two relatives of the slain naxals to Guntur to identify the bodies which would be later transported to the native places of the victims at the Government's cost. The post-mortem would be done under the supervision of senior forensic experts. Several human rights organisations have expressed apprehensions that by the time the bodies are brought for post-mortem even to place like Markapur, no purpose will be served as they will in an advanced stage of decay.
