Eastern Condiments to introduce new products

Staff Reporter

Read-to-eat food items tops the list

KOCHI: Eastern Condiments, the flagship company of Eastern Group, will explore avenues for more export. The company will introduce `ready-to-eat' food items shortly. Chicken, mutton and fish would be available in packets under the `ready-to-eat' category, according to M.E. Meeran, chairman of the group.

The company caters to about 70 per cent of the curry powder market, he said.

Some of the multi-national retailers who are keen to set up retail chain in the country have been in touch with the company, enquiring about the possibility to supply the required quantities of condiments.

Mr. Meeran said Eastern Condiments has received ISO-22000: 2005 certification. The certification ensures that the company has an effective food safety management system at par with international standards and specifications, he said. The certification is issued by a Netherlands-based accreditation body. The company has already received the certificate for Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2000).
