KOCHI: 3i Infotech, an IT solutions provider, launched its global product development centre in the city on Monday. The centre will be focussed on developing and expanding the company's MFund - mutual fund software offerings, said a press release here.

The Kochi centre comes in addition to the development centres in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai, the release added.

The Kochi centre is a product research and development facility with focus on enhancing the MFund products suite. The centre will also develop add-ons to products including e-reporting, bond calculators and fact sheets, said the press release.

Earlier this year, 3i had acquired the Bangalore-based Datacons, a software products company offering niche products for the mutual funds segment. The release quoted M.S. Chandrashekhar, chief executive officer, as saying that the Kochi centre will serve as a catalyst to take the MFund product to the global market.
