Kanpur: Students of Indian Institute of Technology here, who are against reservation in higher educational institutions, would boycott the rally of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi scheduled to be held here on August 8.

They said their agitation was just to convince the Centre not to implement the reservation in higher educational institutions so that their future could be saved.
They were also persuading the people involved in Youth for Equality agitation not to participate in the proposed rally.
However, local Congress activists engaged in making the party chief's rally a grand success have started contacting the agitating students to persuade them to reconsider their decision.
President of city Congress committee Mahesh Dixit said they were contacting the anti-reservation protesters to reconsider their decision and if possible a meeting of a delegation of agitators would be arranged with the Congress president. PTI
