THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Committee of All India Bank Officers' Confederation has asked the State Government to publish the Justice Khalid Commission report. The commission had enquired into the suicide of Rajini S. Anand, an engineering student. The confederation pointed out that even though bank officials were in favour of extending educational loan to eligible candidates, branch managers and officers were being unnecessarily dragged into controversies when they acted as per the existing guidelines governing the granting of educational loans. The State committee observed that outsourcing of jobs would weaken the established banking systems. Customers, because of their time-tested performance, held banks in India in high esteem. Entrusting basic banking functions like clearing house operations to outside agencies would have far reaching effects, would be detrimental to the interest of customers and would demoralise the employees, the committee observed. The need of the hour was to recruit officers and clerks in the hundreds of existing vacancies.
