NEW DELHI: With Haryana releasing more than 1.5-lakh cusecs from its Tajewala waterworks on Sunday, the level of the Yamuna here is likely to rise to the danger level at a few places in the Capital on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. "The water level at the Old Railway bridge is likely to cross the danger level of 204.83 metres by this evening," said Delhi Irrigation and Flood Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan here on Tuesday after reviewing preparations to tackle floods in the low-lying areas along the Yamuna. "The Delhi Government has started gearing up to meet any eventuality and has already ordered evacuation of 80 families from Vijay Ghat and 50 families from Purgaon village in East Delhi," he informed. The Flood and Irrigation Department has already set up a control room at the office of the Deputy Commissioner (East), while additional manpower and machinery has been deployed at other offices. At the main control room, 24 boatmen, six divers and five motorboat drivers have been deployed. The Minister further said all Deputy Commissioner offices have been put on alert, while people were being evacuated from low-lying areas along the Yamuna.
