Seven held for ransacking hotel

MANGALORE: Police have arrested seven persons in a case related to the alleged ransacking of a hotel at Kulashekar in the city on July 24.

The accused have been immediately remanded to judicial custody, a police release said.

The total damage to the hotel is estimated at around Rs. 50,000.

This seems to be the handiwork of a particular organisation and the main motive for ransacking the hotel is said to be serving of beef in the hotel, the release said.

A case under the Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act 1981 together with Rioting and Criminal intimidation has been registered in Mangalore East Police Station.
