Yet another train via New Guntur soon

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: Guntur will soon have a direct railway link to Kakinada very soon with the Chennai-Kakinada Circar Express in both directions stopping at New Guntur railway station.

The exact date of diversion of the train via Guntur in the Tenali-Vijayawada section is yet to be finalised, but this will be the third train to be diverted via the New Guntur railway station. Two other trains are currently stopping in both directions. The Guntur division of the South Central Railway is meanwhile, taking all steps to transform five stations into model modern stations as per the directive of the Railway Ministry. Passenger amenities will be improved at Guntur, Nalgonda, Nandiyal, Nadikudi and Narsaraopet to provide travellers with an entirely different experience. The aim of the Railways was to bring perceptible change in the environment.

Third entrance

Sprucing up the station premises under the `Touch and Feel' programme would include improve toilet facilities, quality drinking water availability, providing coach indication boards, running of better quality eateries on platforms by the IRCTC. The Railways, however, does not propose to open any food plaza on Guntur division this financial year. At the Guntur railway station the third entrance has been readied, with an improved waiting room.
