Students attacked with `harmful spray'

NEW DELHI: At least six students of Maharaja Agrasen Public School developed rashes after two motorcycle-borne miscreants sprayed some liquid on them at Sarai Rohilla in North Delhi on Tuesday. The students were discharged after treatment.

The incident took place around 2-30 p.m. when over 30 students of school's Pitampura branch were on their way back home in their school bus along with their teachers. When the bus was crossing Sarai Rohilla, one of two young men on a motorcycle sprayed some liquid inside the bus and fled from the scene.

It is learnt that the liquid fell on the faces of six of the students, due to which they developed itching and that led to rashes on their faces. Schoolgirl allegedly commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A Class X schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide at Subhash Nagar in West Delhi on Tuesday. The police claim to have recovered a suicide note from her room in which she said she was taking the extreme step as she was not prepared for the examinations.

According to the police, Sonakshi was found hanging from the ceiling around 10-45 a.m. She was to appear for the Maths and Science Class X supplementary papers on Wednesday as she could not clear the main papers. She had also appeared for a paper on Monday in which she had not done well, the police said.

Sonakshi was the niece of Seema Luthra, who had a contested the MCD by-poll from the Subhash Nagar ward on a Congress ticket this Sunday.

One arrested for

alleged murder

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly killing his friend at Nand Nagri in North-East Delhi on July 12.

According to the police, the accused Mohammad Salim was arrested at Sunder Nagri in Nand Nagri on Tuesday. He allegedly confessed to having killed Shakeel, also a resident of Sunder Nagri.

The police said Shakeel and Salim were friends and Shakeel often visited his house. Over a period of time, Salim's wife, Chandni, and Shakeel developed friendly relations. Salim objected to their friendship but Shakeel did not pay heed. Salim then decided to eliminate his friend.

On July 12 evening, Salim stabbed Shakeel several times in front of his mother and brothers when they were sitting in a park and fled from the spot. Shakeel was admitted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the next day. Further investigations in the case are on.

Two members of

inter-state gang held

NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of the Delhi police has apprehended two members of the notorious inter-state Dinesh Gujjar gang from South-West Delhi.

Sandeep Kumar and Ravinder Gujjar were arrested on Monday from Dwarka.

Police recovered two country-made pistols along with 5 live cartridges from them.

Both have been involved cases of murder, police said.

Hoax caller arrested

NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old boy has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly making a call claiming that a bomb would explode at Seelampur market in North-East Delhi this past Sunday. According to the police, the boy made the call just for fun.
