SALEM: The Salem district unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) demanded the district administration to convene an all-party meeting to discuss mosquito control measures.
In a release, District president of the party G. Velayudham said with the drainage channel in the city remained choked, the civic administration was not able to control the mosquito menace. This had led to the outbreak of viral fever in several parts of the city.
Drowns
An eight-year-old schoolgirl drowned in a well here on Tuesday.
Police said Priya of Chinna Tirupathi accidentally fell into the well when she was playing near it and drowned.
The Kannankurichi Police registered a case.
