BEIJING: Typhoon Kaemi has killed nine persons and left 19 others missing since landfall on Tuesday afternoon, according to the office of the National Natural Disaster Reduction Committee. Seven deaths were reported in east China's Jiangxi Province and two in the southern Guangdong Province, the office said in a press release. Jiangxi also reported 19 persons missing when the Typhoon Kaemi hit the province. By 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 668,000 persons had been relocated to safe places, including 649,000 in eastern Fujian Province, 11,000 in Jiangxi and 8,700 in Guangdong, according to the press release. Kaemi is the fifth typhoon to hit China this year. It made landfall at 11:45 p.m. on Monday at Taitung of Taiwan Island, entered into the Taiwan Strait at around 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday and hit Jinjiang of Fujian the same day. It entered Jiangxi from neighbouring Fujian Province on Wednesday morning.
