Last date for filing I-T returns is July 31

Salaried employees could submit returns through POs even after July 31

VIJAYAWADA : The last date for salaried employees and individuals, without business or professional income, to file income tax returns is July 31. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday I-T Commissioner R.C.Pramanik said arrangements had been made to ensure that the assessees filed their returns without inconvenience.

I-T offices in Vijayawada and Khammam divisions would be kept open on Saturday and Sunday (July 29 and 30) for the convenience of the assessees. The Central Board of Direct Taxes had authorised 2,000 post offices (PO) across the country to receive individual tax returns, he said. Eleven POs in Krishna (Vijayawada circle) and eight in Khammam districts had been earmarked for the purpose.

Guntur: The Department of Income Tax made special arrangements in Guntur to receive returns at post offices (PO) from Wednesday till Monday in view of the agitation launched by the employees of the I-T Department. I-T returns would be received in the Head PO at Brodipet, and Collector's office PO in addition to Income Tax Office at Kannavarithota, according to I-T Commissioner D.D. Goyal. There would be no charge for availing the facility at post offices.
