KARIMNAGAR: Sudden rain in various parts of Karimnagar district on Wednesday brought much relief from the sweltering heat. It turned out to be a blessing to the farming community, whose crops were withering due to dry weather conditions. On Wednesday, the district received an average rainfall of 14.8 mm . Upland Thimmapur mandal received a record 65.8 mm rainfall followed by Manakondur 49.2 mm, Karimnagar 34.2 mm, Bejjanki 54.4 mm, Koheda 30.2 mm, Chigurumamidi 19.6 mm, Ellanthakunta 40.6, Sircilla 25.2 mm, Srirampur 59.2 mm, Saidapur 23.4 mm, Veenavanka 30.4 mm, Kamanpur 40 mm. Department officials say that this rain was of help to farmers cultivating maize, cotton and other integrated dry crops. Incessant rain forced people in the town to remain indoors. Several low-lying areas were inundated.
