ITI wins top award

Bangalore: According to the 11th annual survey of Indian communication industry carried out by the communications business magazine Voice and Data, Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) continues to be the country's top telecom turnkey services company.

With a revenue of Rs. 1,321 crore in 2005-06, it qualified for the V and D 2006 award, presented to the company for the third time. ITI registered a growth of 38 per cent, capturing a market share of 46.6 per cent. The V and D report is based on a study of over 500 Indian telecom companies.

The report mentions ITI's record as "good orders in hand, executing large GSM projects for both BSNL and MTNL". ITI has received a large order from BSNL for supply of 6 million lines of which it has completed one million lines. On the satellite communications front, the company has been commissioned to supply broadband satellite network for the Army and for BSNL. ITI implemented CDM- wireless local loop turnkey project in Afghanistan.
