HYDERABAD: The Cabinet on Thursday decided to create a separate department for Non-Resident Indians hailing from the State to serve as a single window to solve their problems. It will be headed by the Principal Secretary (Protocol) and will be set up in the Secretariat immediately. The Cabinet took this decision on the basis of recommendations made by a study group headed by Information Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir. Mr. Shabbir said the NRI department would initially serve as a single-window to look into problems pertaining to their temporary stay in the State and country as also issues like visa and final resettlement on their return home. A legal cell in School Education Directorate to handle court cases filed by teachers and others over various alleged grievances, numbering 5,611, would be established.
