KADAPA: The Telugu Desam Party leaders on Thursday sought the resignation of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy for duping minorities by promising five per cent reservation. "The UPA Government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that it was not in favour of quota for minorities and this exposed Congress' lack of sincerity to uplift the poverty-stricken and illiterate minorities," TDP State Minority Cell president V.S. Ameer Babu said at a press conference. The Congress promised five per cent reservations to minorities in the manifesto for Assembly elections and regained power with the help of minority votes, he said. After the High Court struck down quota for minorities, the State Government assured to ensure reservations, but the UPA's affidavit in Supreme Court revealed the party's stand, Mr. Ameer Babu said.
