KURNOOL: After a prolonged dry spell, the district received heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday. C. Belagal received the highest rainfall of 118 mm followed by Mahanandi at 114 mm, Gudur 98 mm, Orvakal 85 mm, Uyyalawada 82 mm, Mantralayam 78 mm, Nandyal 76 mm, Sirivel 67 mm, Panyam 66 mm, Bethamcharla and Nandavaram 65 mm. Kurnool city received 50 mm rainfall. Because of heavy rain in Gudur and C. Belagal, there was a flash food in Vakkileru, a stream joining the Hundri, on Thursday. The flow in the Hundri was estimated at 1,125 cusecs while Tungabhadra riverbed remained dry. Meanwhile, water level in the Srisailam reservoir rose to 867.90 ft with storage of 178.80 tmcft. The inflow was estimated at 1,61,764 cusecs while the outflow was at 44,814 cusecs, including 6,850 cusecs for Srisailam Right Main Canal. The level in the Tugabhadra dam rose to 1,630.77 ft with storage of 95.63 tmcft. The inflow into the reservoir declined to 18,480 cusecs. The outflow from the dam through the canals was 7,450 cusecs.
