BANGALORE: Accountant General's Office Recreation Club beat Hassan Hockey Club 6-3 in the State `B' division league tournament at the hockey stadium here. Purusha scored a hat-trick (9th, 19th and 24th min.), Kennedy (44th and 58th) a brace and Belliappa (53rd) also scored. Prem Kumar (32nd) scored off a penalty corner, Madhu (48th) off a penalty stroke and Raghu (50th) off a penalty corner scored for the loser. In another match, Metro and Vasu Hockey Club completed their schedule with Metro scoring a 2-1 win. Vasu Hockey club scored in the first minute with Maruthi Bellary being the scorer. Metro turned the tide and Ratan (26th) along with Uthappa (50th) scored off a penalty stroke.
Good day for Govardhan
Govardhan's all-round show (54 and six for 10) helped MES Kishore Kendra defeat Sri Vani Education Centre by 186 runs in a Himalaya Cup under-15 tournament match here on Thursday. MES Kishore Kendra scored 266 and bundled out Sri Vani Education Centre for 80 in 19.4 overs.
The scores: MES Kishore Kendra 266 in 40.1 overs (Govardhan 54, Sriram 54, Vikas four for 51) beat Sri Vani Education Centre 80 in 19.4 overs (Govardhan six for 10, Darshan four for 24). Kendriya Vidyalaya (RWF) 194 for nine in 45 overs (V. Kaushik 86) beat Prasiddi School 162 in 37.4 overs (Sourab 44, Arun Singh six for 32). BET Convent 183 in 36.2 overs (Nikhil 83) lost to Cathedral HS 186 for eight in 30 overs (M. Vikas 55). MS Ramaiah Vidyaniketan 81 in 25 overs lost to Ujjval Vidyalaya 85 for five in 12 overs (Avinash Singh 44). BGS IRS 258 for seven in 45 overs (Adil 86 n.o., Mayur 42) beat Reliance PS 186 in 33.4 overs (Saleem Jaffer 47, Asgar Mehdi 45, Ankush five for 17).
Anup slots five in a row
P.M Anup starred in Baldwin Boys High School's 5-0 victory over St. Joseph's Boys in the under-12 section of the hockey tournament being played for the Allan Macbride trophy. Anup slotted five in a row (4th, 26th, 30th, 32nd and 34th min.). In the girls' section for students of the tenth standard and below, St. Francis Xavier `A' beat St John's 3-0 with Madhushree (4th), Sneha (11th) and Harshavardini (16th) scoring for St. Xavier's. In another match, Frank Anthony Public School beat St. Euprasia's `C' 2-1. Ashmitha (9th) and Gayathri (20th) scored for FAPS while Pavithra (40th) scored Euphrasia's only goal.
