Eight from Adilabad district languishing in Omani jails

The Centre is planning to take up the case of the eight with the Omani regime

ADILABAD: Eight persons from different mandals in Adilabad district, who had gone to Oman in search of employment, are now languishing in jails there.

According to information obtained by authorities concerned, these persons had apparently gone to Oman on visit visas and stayed there even after its expiry.

Names confirmed

Following a request by Andhra Pradesh's Resident Commissioner in Delhi R.P. Agarwal, the Adilabad district administration held an enquiry and confirmed the names of the eight in question.

The persons detained by the Omani authorities, as revealed by the investigation are: Siddalakunta Sayanna (33), s/o Srinivas of Sangvi village in Dilawarpur mandal; D. Gangadhar (22), s/o Linganna of Soan village in Nirmal mandal; Manaboyi Sailoo (25), s/o Vittal and G. Chinna Sayanna (33), s/o Chinnanna both of Dharmora village in Lokeswaram mandal; Kanna Ramulu (50), s/o Linganna of Pakpatla village in Nirmal mandal; Abdul Waheed, s/o Mohammed Ali of Kuntala village in Kuntala mandal; Annaram Ganganna (45), s/o Muthanna of Nagar village in Lokeswaram mandal and Pippera Yellanna (32), s/o Manaji of Lokeswaram village in Lokeswaram mandal.

Identification process

The administration has already sent the relevant certificates for identification of these persons to the Resident Commissioner in order to pursue the case further.

According to sources, the Centre intends to take up the case of the eight with the Omani Government.
