Meeting of exporters, importers organised

NEW DELHI: Union Bank of India organised an "Exporters' and Importers' Meet" at Hotel Le Meridien here on Thursday. A large number of exporters and importers from Delhi and adjoining areas attended.

The Director-General of Foreign Trade, K.T. Chacko, launched a technology-based service that will enable online payment of various types of fees by exporters and importers. Union Bank Chairman and Managing Director M.V. Nair said: "Union Bank of India innovates constantly to improve customer satisfaction levels. This is done by designing and delivering new products and services looking at the needs of each customer segment."

NCC, G.B. Pant Institute sign MoU

NEW DELHI: National Cadet Corps Director-General Lieutenant-General M.C. Bhandari and G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development Director V.U. Dhar signed a memorandum of understanding here on Tuesday.

To implement this joint venture, Participatory Action for Rural Area Environment and Development, the Institute has developed a Village Environment Action Plan that envisages devising simple, suitable and cost-effective solutions to problems relating to environment.

PNB plans credit card

NEW DELHI: Punjab National Bank is to make a foray into credit card business. It has decided to set up a joint venture subsidiary that will deal exclusively with all aspects of its credit card business. According to PNB Executive Director K. Raghuraman, the subsidiary will help leverage the brand equity, customer relationship and the vast network of the bank with the technological and marketing capabilities of the prospective partner.

Blood donation camp

NEW DELHI: A blood donation camp was organised at Brahm Shakti Hospital here on Thursday to mark the sixth death anniversary of M.L. Sharma, former president of Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasabha and founder of Brahm Shakti Trust.

Outer Delhi Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar was among those present on the occasion.

MCD clerk suspended

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Thursday suspended a clerk posted in the Vigilance Department after he was allegedly caught red-handed taking bribe on Wednesday. Following complaints that LDC Taqdir Singh was demanding Rs.30,000 from an employee of the Slum Department, the civic body's Vigilance Department sleuths laid a trap and arrested him.
