Two years' jail for slapping a witness

NEW DELHI:
A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced a man to two years' rigorous imprisonment for slapping a prosecution witness in the court of a Metropolitan Magistrate where the witness had been summoned to depose in a case of illegal confinement and causing hurt last year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Bansal held accused Mukesh guilty of causing "intentional insult" to the court and criminally intimidating witness Ravinder Solanki by slapping him.
According to the FIR, the incident took place in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate S.K. Malhotra who was recording the statement of the witness.
When the accused was brought into the courtroom, he suddenly slapped the witness with his handcuffed hands and threatened to kill him, the FIR said.
