CRPF to have intelligence wing

KOLKATA: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will soon have an intelligence wing of its own, Additional Director General (Eastern Zone) N.R. Das said here on Thursday.

"Our intelligence wing is in its formative stage and will be operational soon," he said on the occasion of the 67th foundation day of the CRPF.

The new wing would help both in intelligence gathering and analysis. A new communication system, SELO (Service and Loyalty - the motto of the CRPF), was recently installed and mobiles were given to personnel down to the company level for better communication with the command centres, Mr. Das said.

Moves were on to equip the CRPF with the latest in weaponry and bring it close to the standards that exist in the Army and the Border Security Force, he said. Training was also underway for personnel in jungle warfare in Silchar in Assam and Sarhan in Himachal Pradesh.
