Bangalore: In line with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's promise to give employment to persons with disabilities in the "Bangalore One" citizen service centres, eight people have been employed. Vipin Singh, Director of Bangalore One, told The Hindu that persons with physical disabilities who had knowledge of computers had been employed to work as counter operators in these centres. Most of these persons had been identified during the Chief Minister's "Janata Darshan" and had been given jobs in those centres where there were vacancies, he said. The State Government had taken a policy decision to reserve a minimum of 30 per cent of the jobs at the "Telecentres" that were going to come up in the hoblis in various districts in the State for physically handicapped persons, he said.
Bus pass
The commuters of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses can now get monthly bus passes in all the 14 Bangalore One Centres from Friday. The Bangalore One centres are situated in Jayanagar, Yeshwantapur, R.T. Nagar, Rajajinagar, Banashankari, Vijayanagar, H.B.R. Layout, Airport Road, Tannery Road, J.P.Nagar, Malleswaram, Nagarabhavi, Kailasipalyam, and Shantinagar.
