`Values lost in competition'

Bangalore:
The fundamental values of journalism were lost in the fight for survival by various publications, said K.N. Shanth Kumar, Editor of "Deccan Herald".
Mr. Shanth Kumar was speaking at the 164th Karnataka Journalism Day celebrations organised by Surana College here on Thursday.
He said that "Page 3" culture had eroded the basic objectives of journalism.
Mr. Shanth Kumar felicitated K. Satyanarayana, former editor of "Kannada Prabha"; K. Shridhar Achar, former editor of Prajavani and former president of Karnataka Press Academy; Venkatanarayana, editor of "Usha Kirana"; Aarkere Jayaram, Chief of Bureau of The Hindu; and R. Poornima, editor of Udayavani.
K.E. Radhakrishna, principal of Surana College, was present.
