HYDERABAD: The body of a man, who was washed away in an open nala at Lalapet on Wednesday night, was retrieved on Thursday. This is the second incident of a man being washed away, which was reported in the city within the last 10 days. Thirtyfive-year-old J. Kumaraswamy, a labourer and resident of Chandrababu Naidu Nagar in Lalapet, fell into the nala while trying to cross it walking on a concrete pole being used as a makeshift bridge. Passersby noticed the body stuck in heaps of garbage in the same nala some 200 metres away from the spot where the labourer fell.
Body identified
Police said Kumaraswamy met with the tragic end while he was returning home. The nala was overflowing following incessant rain. As news spread about the bodybeing found in the nala, hundreds of residents rushed to the spot. One of the victim's neighbours identified Kumaraswamy and alerted his family. "We have been searching for him since Wednesday evening. He told us in the morning that he would return home soon to discuss a family matter, but did not turn up," Kumaraswamy's brother Venkataiah said.
