Foul smell causes hardship to people

KOCHI: Foul smell suspected to have emanated from two kilns at Manjummel and Edayar caused hardship to people in certain parts of Eloor on Thursday. Several students and teachers of MES School at Eloor experienced nausea and headache following the incident. A team comprising officials of the State Pollution Control Board visited the area. Officials are also probing whether there was any leak from industrial units in the region. — Staff Reporter

Property show begins today

Kochi: A property show will be on at the Ernakulathappan grounds from Friday. The three-day show organised by the Kerala Builder's Forum will showcase more than 100-odd properties coming up in Kochi and nearby areas. Along with 38 builders, there will be five financial institutions with housing finance packages at the expo. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mayor Mercy Williams will officially inaugurate it at 5 p.m. — Staff Reporter

IGNOU courses

KOCHI: The last date to apply for the Bachelor degree programmes offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is July 31. The eligibility for the degree programmes is a pass in plus two, pre-degree, or equivalent qualification. Application forms are available at all IGNOU study centres and regional centre. Filled-in application forms along with programme fee in the form of demand draft should be submitted to the IGNOU Regional Centre, Kaloor, Kochi, on or before July 31.
