NEW DELHI: A former Rajputana Rifles soldier and a university-level cricket player from Meerut, who was recently selected for the Merchant Navy, were arrested in Delhi Cantonment on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in carjacking cases. The police claim to have recovered two country-made firearms from their possession. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West Delhi) Ravinder Yadav, the accused were arrested near the Rajputana Rifles Centre when they were travelling in a stolen Maruti Wagon-R car bearing a fake registration number. The vehicle was found stolen from Khatouli. The accused were identified as Sanjeev Kumar and Abhishek Chaudhary, residents of neighbouring Ghaziabad. At their instance, the police have launched a hunt for those to whom they had sold the stolen vehicles.
