First loss for Negi
GM Parimarjan Negi (4.5 points) suffered his first loss in the Politiken Cup chess tournament in the sixth round in Copenhagen on Thursday. The 40-move loss with white pieces to Denmark's Allen Stig Rasmussen pushed the 13-year-old among those between 14th and 27th places. In the seventh round, ninth-seeded Negi faces another lower-rated local challenger Dan H. Andersen.
Hari starts favourite
Top seed P. Hari Krishna will start his campaign in the Marx Gorgy memorial chess tournament with fellow Grandmaster and former World junior champion Peter Acs in Paks, Hungary, late on Friday. The other players in the six-player double round-robin meet are Hungary's Zoltan Almasi, Ferenc Berkes, Ukraine's Zahar Efimenko and China's Wang Yue. The 10-round event ends on August 7.
