CHENNAI: Germany defeated India 2-0 to clinch the fifth place in the World junior men's squash championship at Palmerston North in New Zealand on Friday. In the first match, Simon Rosner proved too good for Sandeep Jangra. He was very swift on the court and scored an easy 9-2, 9-0, 9-0 victory. Naresh Kumar could not repeat the heroics of the previous day, though he did provide a flicker of hope by bagging the first two games against Florian Silbernagl. Just when it seemed that the Indian was in his groove, the German southpaw came back strongly. Returning with aplomb and hitting some excellent volley drops, he levelled the scores before completing a dramatic 7-9, 1-9, 9-2, 9-4, 10-8 win. According to India's coach Cyrus Poncha, history may not have repeated itself but overall it was a wonderful performance by the team. The results: India 0 lost to Germany 2 (Sandeep Jangra lost to Simon Rosner 2-9, 0-9, 0-9; Naresh Kumar lost to Florian Silbernagl 9-7, 9-1, 2-9, 4-9, 8-10). Special Correspondent
