News Analysis
The report "40th LAWASIA meet from September 29" ("Variety", July 25, 2006) stated incorrectly that Lalit Bhasin is the president of the Bar Association of India (BAI). Mr. Bhasin clarifies that he is the Hony. General Secretary of BAI and that the president of BAI is eminent jurist Mr. F.S. Nariman. It is the K.P. Sivasubramaniam Commission of Inquiry, as stated in "Jayalalithaa welcomes probe" ("Briefly", Tamil Nadu, July 28, 2006). A reporting error made it the "Subramaniam Committee", in both the text and the heading ("Government issues orders on Subramaniam Committee", Tamil Nadu, July 28, 2006). Referring to "Nuclear deal not a party issue, says Natwar" (July 28, 2006, page 1), a reader wondered whether K. Natwar Singh is the Diplomatic Correspondent of The Hindu. It was a design error in the Chennai city edition. The caption ("K. Natwar Singh") and the byline ("Diplomatic Correspondent") were too close!
It is the policy of The Hindu to correct significant errors as soon as possible. Please specify the edition (place of publication), date and page.
