Rupee loses eight paise
MUMBAI:
The rupee on Friday declined by eight paise to close at 46.68/69 a dollar due to late month-end dollar demand on the back of a rebounding dollar in mostly thin trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, adversely affected by the day-long bank strike.
Halting a three-session sharp rally that took it to near two-week closing high of 46.60/61 on Thursday, the rupee succumbed to a late round of hectic dollar short covering by banks for the usual month-end considerations, dealers said.
