West Godavari gears up for polls

8,000 polling personnel drafted for polls in 286 gram panchayats

ELURU : The West Godavari administration is prepared to hold elections to gram panchayats slated for Saturday. Arrangements are in place for conduct of the polls for which over 8,000 polling personnel were drafted. Some 3,000 polling stations were set up.

A total of 749 candidates remained in the fray for the post of sarpanch while around 5,500 candidates for ward members in 286 gram panchayats.
