BANGALORE: State BJP president D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MP, will be talking to party MP Manorama Madhwaraj with regard to her allegation against Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda, which has turned out to be another irritant in the relations between the two coalition partners. Mr. Gowda convened a press conference here on Friday to deny the former Prime Minister's claim that some BJP leaders had conspired with the Congress to topple the coalition government. Ms. Madhwaraj, a new entrant to the BJP from the Congress, had questioned Mr. Deve Gowda's action in permitting Nagarjuna Power Company Ltd. to set up a thermal power plant on the coastline. She had also levelled an allegation against him. Addressing presspersons here, he said Mr. Deve Gowda's statement was far from the truth and it had only created confusion among party workers. Both the ruling parties had to observe the coalition dharma on all issues, however complex they might be, and resolve them through discussions. Mr. Deve Gowda's statements would only provide a handle to the opponents and traducers of the Government to intensify their attacks. Mr. Sadananda Gowda declared that no BJP leader was interested in fishing in troubled waters as alleged by Mr. Deve Gowda. The JD(S) leader had alleged that some Congress leaders had joined hands with some disgruntled and power-hungry leaders in the BJP to stage a coup of sorts to destabilise the coalition. The State BJP chief said, "The party has nothing to do with Mr. Deve Gowda. We keep him at a certain distance. In the first place, Mr. Gowda had no role in the formation of this government."
Two-day meet
The BJP president said the party would hold a two-day `chintan baitak' from August 5 near here to review the progress made by party ministers in their respective departments. They would be asked to explain steps taken to implement schemes announced in the State Budget.
