Srikakulam: As many as 1100 police personnel were being deployed for ensuring free and fair elections in Srikakulam division where polls would be held in 356 gram panchayats on Saturday. Giving details of arrangements to media persons at his office here on Friday, Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar Sinha said there are 380 polling stations spread over 13 mandals in the division and each polling centre would be manned by one head constable, two constables, two home guards and two special police officers.
Armed teams
Appropriate arrangements were made to ensure peaceful elections in 97 villages identified as hypersensitive and 147 as sensitive. There are five inaccessible villages to which polling personnel reached in advance. Mr. Sinha said 147 mobiles parties and 27 striking teams were set up. The mobile party consists of three to four armed persons. Kakinada: A total of 315 panchayats and 2,903 wards spread over Peddapuram and Rampachodavaram divisions in East Godavari district will go to polls on Saturday. Collector M. Subrahmanyam said on Friday that all arrangements were made to ensure peaceful polling. Twelve mandals in Peddapuram division and seven in Rampachodavaram are going to polls in the first phase. Polling would be held for villages in Rajahmundry and Kakinada division in the second phase on August 2 and for villages in sixteen mandals of Amalapuram division in the third phase on August 6.
Police bandobust
VIZIANAGARAM: The police have made the bandobust for the first phase of polling on Saturday for 339 sarpanch and 2339 ward member posts in the extremist-dominated gram panchayats in the agency region of Parvathipuram revenue division. Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann said in a release on Friday that 1531 police personnel were deployed to ward off any untoward incident during polling.
