MADURAI: Defending champions, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Indian Audit and Accounts department, successfully retained the men and women's team title defeating Indian Audit and Account Department 2-1 and LIC Sports Promotion Board 2-1 respectively in the eighth Inter-Institution National carrom championship here on Friday. The results: Men's team championship (Final): PSPB bt Indian Audit and Accounts Dept 2-1 (Sandeep Deorukhar bt Dilesh Khedakar 25-9, 22-25, 25-22; Yogesh Pardesi bt Magesh Devraj 25-5, 25-6; Ashok Gaur lost to P. Sashidharan 16-25, 5-25. Third place: Bank Sports Board bt India Airlines S.C 2-1 (Nagsen Etambe bt R.M.Shankara 25-15, 10-25, 25-22; Lenus Paulraj bt E. Mahimairaj 23-19, 5-25, 25-8; R. Arokiaraj lost to M. Nataraj 1-25, 2-25. Women's final: Indian Audit and Account Dept bt LIC Sports PB 2-1 (D. Swarnalatha bt Shilpa Joshi 10-25, 25-12, 25-20; R. Sharmila bt Bharathi Narayanan 25-9, 25-12; Rashmi Ranjan lost to S. Apoorva 14-25, 9-25. Third place: Bank Sports Board Reserve Bank of India 3-0.
