BANGALORE: Malaysia and Sri Lanka duly made it to the semifinals of the Asian Youth Netball championship for girls topping their groups at Sree Kanteerava Indoor stadium here on Friday. Sri Lanka stopped a gritty Singapore 62-44 to complete its Pool `B' engagements with clean slate (three wins), while Malaysia outclassed Thailand 65-20 for its second win in the three team Pool `A'.
Both Singapore and Thailand, despite their defeats, made it to the semifinals as runner-up from their respective pools.
The final group placings: Group `A': 1. Malaysia (2 wins, 4 points); 2. Thailand (1-1-2); 3. Maldives (0-3-0). Group `B': 1. Sri Lanka (3-0-6); 2. Singapore (2-1-4); 3. Hong Kong (1-2-2); 4. India (0-3-0). The results (league): Group `A': Malaysia 65 (Aruna 36, Nur Ezaini Mohd 11, Husna Hussain Ali 13, Noorrul Afinza 5) beat Thailand 20 (Ratiporn 12, Praporwsat 3, Siriwan 4, Shailai 1).
