NEW DELHI: Reigning Bollywood superstar Preity Zinta will now use her charisma and energy to promote a social cause.

On Friday, Preity was here in the Capital to kick off Godfrey Phillips Bravery Blood Donation Drive.

Appointed brand ambassador of Godfrey Phillips Bravery movement, Preity was serious about taking the message of "bravery" forward to inspire every individual to live life selflessly.

After donating blood at New Friends Colony, Preity said matter-of-factly: "I have just donated blood. People must realise that I have donated blood despite the fact that I travel across the globe and live such a hectic life."

Imploring Delhiites to come forward and donate blood, Preity said: "People must realise that a small effort like donating blood can make such a big difference to someone's life. Believe me, it is just a five-minute exercise. I want to bring awareness among people of our country that donating blood is not something that a person needs to be scared about. We can help others by voluntarily donating blood."

As the new ambassador, Preity will also lead three important initiatives that have been identified by Godfrey Phillips Bravery -- blood donation, national pride and women's empowerment.

"Preity Zinta is a forthright, conscientious person with a proven record of having stood up for the right in the face of intense pressure. She also has a close connection with the three areas that our company encompasses and all these reasons make her an ideal ambassador for us. Her support will give the movement the impetus that is needed," said Godfrey Phillips India Limited president K.K. Modi.
