COIMBATORE: Tex Spares 2006, the third edition of textile machinery and spares exhibition organised by Southern India Mills' Association, is on at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in the city with over 200 stalls. The five-day event that started on Thursday has a range of products on display, especially for spinning and weaving sectors. This includes not just machinery and spares but also accessories. Cones, aprons, dust removers, humidification plants, material handling tools, calibration and testing equipment, packaging materials and machines, gears, belts and even small components that go into the spinning frame are on display. Wind turbine manufacturers alone occupy a pavilion. As new machines keep coming, new spares also enter the market. The fair is especially for small and medium scale manufacturers to showcase the innovations in accessories and spares, says S. V. Arumugam, Chairman of the association. He points out that three to four per cent of the end product value goes towards spares and the machines should be updated to control cost. Major machinery manufacturers have exhibited components that could be attached to the existing machines for additional facilities. "Spares and accessories are not just for replacement. These products also add value to the existing machines through innovations," he adds. The event helps mills to see a wide range of components from various manufacturers under one roof. They also get to know of the innovative products, research into these and the new ones set to enter the market. Further, the manufacturers of these spares and components are able to get the feedback of the industry on their needs. The association plans to organise a machinery exhibition too.
