Staff Reporter

Kanala Sriharsha Chakravarthy performs `with ease even after a long gap

RARE FEAT: Kanala Harsha Chakravarthi at the `Dwigunitha Ganitha Ashthavadhanam' held in Tirupati on Friday.

TIRUPATI: The time taken to give the answer was almost a tenth of the time taken to shoot the question!

`Avadhanam' is a feat wherein a person is supposed to answer a volley of questions fired by a group of `Prucchakas' (experts) on a range of subjects. Tirupati-based EEE student Kanala Sriharsha Chakravarthy is known for handling questions in mathematics since his childhood days that earned him titles like `Uddanda Balabhaskara', `Abinava Aryabhatta', `Saptagiri Saraswati putra', `Superkid', etc.

The busy engineering student performed `Dwigunita ganita ashtavadhanam' on Friday after a long gap and proved that he was still a force to reckon with.

The `avadhanam' was conducted at the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in which 16 experts shot the queries.

Be it the value of a number to the power of five, cube value, cube root, binary to Dasamsamana, value of sine theta, `pi' value or telling the daily star of almanac, finding the `Adhikamasa' in a year, lunar day, day of a week (past and future years), distance between sun and the moon, Sriharsha mesmerised not just the questioners, but the audience too.

Mathematics professors Vangipuram Srinivasan (retd.), M. Bhaskar Reddy, B. Maheswari, G. Sarojamma and S.V. Verma, Sanskrit scholars V. Vishnu Bhattacharyulu, K. Rajagopalan, A. Sripada Bhat and R.K. Thakur, teachers T. Jayarama Naidu, Ch. D.V. Subba Rao, R. Madhava Naidu, a retired engineer K. Hanumanthu and a retired official L. Mallikarjuna Reddy were among the `Prucchakas' who grilled Sriharsha and got the answers in lightning speed.
