Centre's nod sought for reservation

PONDICHERRY: The Pondicherry Government has taken up with the Centre its proposal to extend reservation to scheduled tribes in education and employment in the Union Territory.

An official source said on Friday the Government had written to the Home Ministry on the matter.

A committee, which the Government constituted under Subramanian, a professor of Anthropology of Pondicherry University, identified the various classes coming under the scheduled tribes category.
