DDA staffer gets 5-year RI
New Delhi:
A Special court on Friday sentenced a Delhi Development Authority DDA staffer to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case following a trial which spanned for almost 13 years. Special Judge Sunil Gaur also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakhs on Sharif Khan, after finding him guilty under the Prevention of Corruption Act for "possessing assets disproportionate to his known income" as a clerk. Delhi police had conducted a raid at the convict's residence on December 2, 1993 on a complaint filed by one Naushad Akhtar.
