MYSORE: Students from Afghanistan were given a warm welcome at the J.S.S. College of Arts, Commerce and Science here on Friday. On the occasion, Deputy Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, R.M. Aggarwal, said that there were about 350 Afghan students currently in India pursuing education. They were sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Director of ICCR, Bangalore, Lobo said that the greatest gift that India can offer is scholarships to educate young Afghan students. Rostan, a student of first year Bachelor of Arts, thanked the Indian government for extending a friendly hand. A release from the college said that a course on spoken Kannada would also be arranged for Afghan students as it would help them in their daily life. In all, 24 Afghan students will be studying in the college. College Principal B.V. Sambhashiviah and executive secretary of J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha, B.N. Betkerur were present on the occasion.
