MYSORE: A total of 202 policemen from Mysore district, who served the Special Task Force (STF) in the operations against forest brigand Veerappan, were given cash rewards at a function in the city on Friday. Mysore City Police Commissioner gave away the cash rewards ranging from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 3 lakh to the police personnel at the KSRP parade grounds in Mysore. A prize money totalling Rs 4.95 crore was given away on the occasion. The recipients included policemen from Civil Police Force, KSRP, DAR and CAR. The prize money varied in accordance with the duration of their tenure in the STF and their ranks. While 138 personnel received Rs. 3 lakh each, 20 personnel received Rs. 2 lakh each. Another 39 policemen were given Rs. 1 lakh while five personnel were handed over Rs. 50,000, officials said. Late KSRP personnel S.N. Anand, who served the STF for three years was among the beneficiaries of the cash reward. His wife received the cheque on his behalf. Shivanna of CAR and Lingaraju of Civil Police Force, who served the STF for 11 years were also among the recipients. Mr. Sood received a guard of honour before disbursing the prize money. Superintendent of Police S. Murugan and Additional Superintendent of Police Puttaswamy were among the senior officials present.
