Udupi: A man killed his wife over a petty reason and committed suicide at Aajri village in Shankarnarayana police station limits here on Friday. The police said Narayana Poojary (54) allegedly assaulted his wife, Kaveri (45), with a sickle when she refused to give him money to buy "beedies". When their daughter, Bhagirati, returned home from her work, she saw Narayana Poojary standing outside their house with the sickle. Her mother was lying in a pool of blood inside the house. Subsequently, Narayana Poojary ran to the cowshed near his house and hanged himself, the police said.
