CHENNAI: Chennai based CYS Multimedia is launching diploma programmes in multimedia and 3D Character Animation to meet the growing need for the skilled professionals in video and sound editing, special effects, virtual reality, animation, games, interactive multimedia programming and web content development. It has designed courses for each media element: text, graphics, animation, audio and video. A 6-month animator course that covers `Maya with respect to 3D Character Modeling, 3D Character Rigging and Character Animation. The course fee is Rs. 28,000. The trainer is also introducing diploma in visual Effects, an 8-months course (fee is 35,000) for Maya on 3D Background Creation, and other elements. CY Sathya, Managing Director of the company said the Indian entertainment industry was growing at 20 per cent per annum. The IT-enabled sector, which included interactive or digital multimedia, animation and gaming, was expected to employ around 1.1 million professionals by 2008.
