Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Poonamallee, Pattabiram, Kondithope, Tollgate, Korattur, T.V.Pet, Sowcarpet East, Perumbakkam, Ambattur and Triplicane areas on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. due to maintenance work.

TNEB plea to industrial consumers

The TNEB authorities have proposed to enhance the transformer capacity at Perumbakkam SS 110 kv in Chennai EDC/South area from the existing

25 MVA to 50 MVA.

The work is programmed from 4 a.m. on Saturday up to 10 a.m. on Monday, says a release from the electricity authorities.

During that time supply will be maintained for domestic consumers. However, the industrial consumers of these areas have been requested to change over for generator supply. In case of any emergency arising, loads will be staggered for a period not exceeding an hour in rotation for domestic consumers in Medavakkam, Vengaivasal, Sholinganallur, Chemmenchery, Injambakkam, Pallikaranai, Sembakkam, Karappakkam, Thorappakkam and Perungudy, adds the release.

Philatelic exhibition

The Department of Posts in association with South Indian Philatelists' Association (SIPA) is organising regular thematic philatelic exhibition in Anna Road Head Post Office. For the month of August, the theme will focus on Indian Postal System/Dandi March.

The exclusive collections of J. Rolands Nelson, secretary, SIPA will be on display from Saturday. The exhibition will be open on all Saturdays in August also. The exhibition will be held at exhibition hall of the Anna Road Head post office.

Stamp on J & K High Court

A commemorative postage stamp on High Court of Jammu and Kashmir will be released on Saturday. The High Court in Jammu and Kashmir was established on May 26, 1928. Stamps, first day covers and information brochure will be available at the Philatelic Bureaux/Philatelic counters.

AIEMA elects new office-bearers

The following were elected the office-bearers of the Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers' Association for 2006-2007. K. Pichumani- president; S.Srinivasan , vice-president; R.Sridharan - honorary general secretary; N.Jagadish - honorary joint secretary and P.Panayappan - honorary treasurer.

A blood donation camp was held at Jaya College of Arts and Science, Thirunindravur, on Wednesday.
