HYDERABAD: As part of its Indian classic series `Katha Saritha', Doordarshan will start screening of programmes based on works of eminent authors in Telugu from July 31. Covering a select genre of classics, children's literature, art and culture and humour, these works are part of 800 half-an-hour episodes being produced in 15 languages. In Telugu, the series has programmes based on works of Munimanikyam Narasimha Rao (`Kantham Kathalu'), Raavi Shastri (`Kitiki'), Abburi Chaya Devi (`Tana Margam') Tangirala Subba Rao (`Katama Raju Kathalu'), Koduri Kousalya Devi (`Tiyyani Badha'), Vasireddy Sitadevi (`Maripoyina Manishi'), Gollapudi Maruti Rao (`Sexy Katha'), Avasrala Ramakrishna Rao (`Nannu Chusthe Naake Navvosthundi'), Gunturu Sheshendra Sharma (`Kiranmayi'), V.S. Ramadevi (`Devudiki Uttaram'), Arudra (`Devuni Yeduta') and Sadguru Shjivananda Murthy (`Andhrula Charitra Samskruti'). Giving details at a press meet here on Friday, the DD Deputy Director General Ashok Jailkhani said these programmes would be telecast at 8 p.m. - starting July 31, and repeated at 8 a.m. the next day.
