ON A WARY NOTE: An Inspector of the Bomb Disposal Squad shows a `suitcase bomb' to porters at Secunderabad railway station as part of a sensitisation programme against suspicious objects.
HYDERABAD: "If you spot persons moving under suspicious circumstances or abandoned objects on the railway station premises alert the police." This was the message communicated to licensed porters and vendors at Secunderabad Railway Station by the officials of Railway Protection Force (RPF) here. Over 100 porters and vendors were trained to spot abandoned objects like tiffin boxes, books, baggage, transistors and mobile phones, which are used to trigger blasts. The training programme was organised in the wake of serial blasts in Mumbai on July 11. Demonstrating how terrorists can use these objects to wreak havoc in public places, Intelligence Security Inspector Ch. Badraiah asked porters and vendors to immediately inform the police about these objects instead of taking them away. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Shika Goel assured that the police would not harass those who give information regarding this.
